Childhood trauma therapy Los Angeles CA

You can’t get the painful memories from the past out of your head.

It’s never been easy to be around your family, but recently it’s been more difficult. You’re avoiding their calls and texts because you just need some space. When you visit or talk to them, some of the painful memories from the past return. Your family doesn’t want you to talk about those things, but it’s hard to keep pretending that nothing happened and everything is okay.

You don’t know how to relax, and your body is betraying you.

Your headaches are getting worse and more frequent, and no amount of throwing yourself into work or exercise helps distract you from your guilt, anger, anxiety, and physical pain. You wonder if the emotional and physical abuse you experienced as a child actually broke your body for good, and if you’ll ever be able to really breathe deeply and relax.

You’re successful in your career, but feel like a failure in your relationships.

You’re successful, driven, and pride yourself on having a good work ethic, but wonder if you’ll ever have the same success in your relationships. You doubt your ability to attract and keep a healthy relationship and, if you’re honest, don’t really know what one looks like. Your pattern of casual hookups on the dating apps hasn’t given you much experience in that department. You like the idea of being in a long-term relationship, but the reality of it actually terrifies you. You worry that if you do find a partner, you’ll end up repeating the same patterns you saw growing up, and you promised yourself you’d never let that happen.

You need a trauma therapist who really understands relationships.

You’ve tried therapy in the past, but only lasted a few sessions. The therapist just didn’t understand the complexity of your pain and what you went through as a child. Frankly, you didn’t feel safe enough to really get into it.

Meet your childhood trauma therapist

Hi, I’m Meg Lopez-Cepero, LMFT. I’m a relationship counselor and trauma therapist in Los Angeles, CA.

I help adult survivors of childhood trauma work through their guilt, shame, and pain, so they can learn to trust themselves and build happy, secure relationships.

I’ll teach you ways to calm your anxiety and let go of the tension that you hold in your body, so you can breathe deeper and more easily. My approach is always trauma-informed and relational. We’ll go at your own pace, and you’ll be in control of when and how much information you want to share about the things that took place in your childhood. Plus, I use EMDR therapy to help clients process memories from the past without having to do a lot of talking.

The clients who work with me appreciate my warmth, compassion, and ability to remember the little details of their lives. You won’t have to repeat your friend or co-worker’s name, because I’ll be listening and will recall what you said. We’ll have real discussions about how your race, ethnicity, cultural background, gender, and sexuality contribute to your trauma and influence the way you show up in therapy, your life, and your relationships.

If you’re ready to start healing from your painful childhood, then contact me and schedule a free phone consultation for childhood trauma therapy for adults.
